Welcome back!  I hope that everyone had a great long weekend.  I am so proud of our class and how well they adjusted to the new changes last week.  Today we had our first virtual school assembly using Google Meet.  Please see the demographic forms sent home today.  Please be sure to sign the back of the demographic forms even if there are no updates required.  Please also be sure to sign the two consent to release forms.  If you have any questions about the forms please send me an email.

A few reminders:

Your child will need a water bottle every day.  The water fountains are closed this year.  Please fill the bottle up at home every morning in order to limit trips to the filling station.  Please practice opening and closing the lid tightly with your child.  We already had one big spill last week!  Please also practice opening containers and food wrappers at home with your child so that he or she can eat independently.

Please label all of your child's belongings.  We will not have the usual lost and found on tables that we had last year where students can go and look through the piles.  Items with your child's name on them are more likely to be returned.

Please leave promptly after dropping off your child in the mornings.  This helps us to maintain our practice of social distancing and allows enough room for the classes to line up.

Please have a designated pick-up spot outside of our doors at 3:10 pm Mondays to Thursdays and 11:45 am on Fridays.  Teachers will not be outside every day after school.  Your child has been taught to wait a few minutes and then to walk around to the front of the school to go to the office.  Please note that it is very important that you are on time every day for pick-up.  Students cannot wait inside the office as they used to last year.

Please also check to ensure that your child has everything that he or she will need for the day.  We are trying to limit the amount of parents coming to the office to drop off items after school has started.  Please dress for the weather (rain or shine) and ensure that your child is wearing runners for outdoor shoes.

Please send indoor and outdoor shoes that do not have shoelaces.  It is much faster in grade one to have shoes that do not need to be tied.  If you have already bought shoes with shoelaces they can be replaced with no tie shoelaces.

I got a mask lanyard last week and it is very handy!  It is another way for your child to keep his or her mask handy when taking a mask break.
